> We proudly present a new project, named "Norte79"

> This project will focus on the recriacion of the "North Line" in the late 70's. The North Line is the most busy railway in Portugal. It connects the country's two major cities - Lisbon and Oporto.

A number of questions may be asked about this choice:

Why this particular time and not another one ? 1966 for example - the year that intriduced electric traction in this route? what about the late 80's,when the Corail coaches arrives, and introduced the Alfa service?
Well, the answr is simple. The chief-coordinator of this project wanted it tobe as farr back in time as possible but, at the same time, included the  2600 series electric locos in the epoch to recreate (they arrivedafter 1974). The guy just loves "nez-cassés". What could we do?????? ;)

Being MSTS in the end of it's life and with the comming of the new simulators... why make such an ambitious project for this game?

Has you may,or may not, know, TrainMaster Train Simulator will have an option to migrate add-ons from MSTS. Thisis assured by the developers in a number of fora. Rest assured however that the process of migration will not be an instant one nor at the distance of a simple click.

Another aspect is that the 3d models are being done in software that will, probably, permit exporting into other formats like Kuju's Railsimulator,just as we make it now for both MSTS and TrainZ

In the first phase of this project we are going to strech the route from the begginning,at Lisbon - Stª Apolonia till milepost 49 (we will designate mile post as PK). PK49 is 2km north of Azambuja, the end of the suburban service of Lisbon.

The other phases will be listed as we go along!

NOW THE MOST IMPORTANT!!!!

Because this is an historical recreation, work will evolve slowly. It will not be as easy as with... for example the Algarve Route (Cascais Route is a bad example).

There is research to make!!!!

We are going to ask for the community contribution in this project. A chance for any member to make the difference and help get content that everyone is expecting!

            1-We want the active contribution of community members. If you happen to have photos, drawings, or if you remember some details or facts, if you know were we can get some information being it... other people, newspappers,historical documents, just send us an e-mail. All information will be precious. If you send us any material wich you are not the author, please name it! This is very important! We want to give credit to anyone that helps, directly or indirectly.

                2- We will be distributing tasks for those that volunteer. How? The most extenuating task in Route Building is creating cenery objects - trees, bridges, houses, entire towns - So we will devide the Route in various zones and the volunteers will be able to choose a zone of their liking and build cenery objects for it. Always being carefull to reproduce it at the specific epoch as closely as possible.
