27MAI2010 - OPEN RAILS!
The
Open Rails team is pleased to announce the next public demonstration of
the updated Open Rails software will be made available to public on May
27th starting at 9 a.m United Kingdom time. This version of the software
includes highly detailed daytime and nighttime skies, rain, and snow along
with other environmental features, updated authentic steam locomotive
physics, and other enhancements. A guide to the software will be included.
The demonstration release of Open Rails software makes no changes to any
MSTS content. Please note that like any demonstration software, many
features will be missing. Periodic releases of the software demonstrating
key features to the train simulator community are an important way to
share our continuing progress as well as establish a context for two-way
communication.
To download your copy of the Open Rails software, click here:
www.openrails.org/release.html
You will need to have the following software components installed:
- MSTS.
- XNA 3.1 Redistributable. ORTS will notify you if you do not have XNA
installed. Please visit http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en to download
XNA 3.1 if you do not have XNA installed.
After installing XNA, please follow these steps:
- Unzip the installation package to a folder on your desktop or
any convenient location.
- Then, double click on the ORTS.EXE program.
The Open Rails is a constantly evolving project that runs on volunteer
participation. Please feel free to post questions and comments about Open
Rails at the Open Rails forums at uktrainsim.com, train-sim.com, and
elvastower.com. The Open Rails team will be periodically monitoring these
forums. If the train simulator community wants to ensure the Open Rails
team gets their feedback, please use the feedback form on the Open Rails
website at www.openrails.org. Your feedback helps the team to gauge how
well we are doing and /or
what additional features you are most interested in us developing. The
team will release a summary of the feedback to the train simulator
community once we have closed downloads.
If you would like to learn more about the Open Rails project and/or would
like to join the team, please visit www.openrails.org and the official
Open Rails Wikipedia page at
